Privacy Policy

Klerku ("we", "us") runs the Klerku API at api.klerku.com: a speech-to-text service for developers. This policy covers the developer portal and the API. It does not cover the Transkriptuesi app, which has its own policy.

Audio you send and the transcripts we return

Audio you upload is passed to our transcription service, which runs on Google Cloud in Belgium (europe-west1). It is decoded and transcribed in memory and in a temporary file that is deleted when the request finishes. The transcript is returned in the response. We do not store your audio or your transcripts, and we do not use them to train models. Our service logs record only technical figures for each request, such as the audio's length and the processing time, never its content.

Account information

• Sign-in. When you sign in with Google we receive your Google account identifier, email address and name. When you sign in with Apple we receive a stable identifier and, if you share them, your email address (which may be an Apple relay address) and your name. We never receive your password.
• API keys. We store a one-way hash of each key, its last four characters, the name you give it, and when it was last used. We cannot show you a key again after it is created.
• Usage and balance. For each request we record the time, the seconds billed, the processing time and which of your keys was used. We also keep your prepaid balance and a record of each purchase and refund (hours, amount and Polar order ID).

Payments

Hours are sold through Polar, our merchant of record, which handles payment, tax and invoices. Polar's own privacy policy applies to the checkout. We give Polar your account email and an internal account ID so the purchase reaches your balance; we receive the order details back. We never see your card details.

How we use it

To sign you in, authenticate API requests, keep your balance and bill usage, prevent abuse, and answer support requests. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use advertising or analytics trackers.

Service providers

• Google: Sign in with Google, and Google Cloud Run, which hosts the transcription service.
• Apple: Sign in with Apple.
• Polar: payments, tax and invoices.
• DigitalOcean: hosts the API gateway and the account database.

Cookies and browser storage

The portal keeps your sign-in session in your browser's local storage. It sets no tracking cookies. The Google and Apple sign-in buttons are loaded from Google and Apple, which may set their own cookies under their own policies.

Retention and deletion

Account, key and usage records are kept while your account is active. To delete your account, contact us: we delete your account, keys and usage history. We keep purchase records only where the law requires them for accounting. Polar keeps its own records of your purchases.

Security

All connections use TLS. API keys are stored only as hashes. Account data is accessible only to service administrators.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, its correction or its deletion through the contact form.

Children

The service is for developers and is not directed to children under 16.
